Some web designers may not want to use CSS because their target audience uses older browsers that don't support CSS. Or, they may want to get their pages published as quickly as possible and they don't want to spend time learning the CSS rules. This section teaches the basics of designing web pages that don't use CSS. These tutorials will reference XHTML instead of HTML because XHTML is compatible with older browsers. As a suggestion, begin your study in the main section, because most of those pages are not concerned with the method you use for formatting the pages. As you study those pages, return to this section to obtain additional material that only applies when you're not using CSS. To pursue your study of designing without CSS, follow the links in the navigational bar.
